The UAE Club Sustainability Transformation was an initiative by its parent company aiming to develop the top UAE football club together with its assets into a commercially self-sustaining entity. As part of the program, The Stadium Consultancy was appointed by Portas Consulting as stadium specialist consultant.
As stadium subject matter experts, our role was to review the match day and non-match day operations of the club’s stadia and other club facilities to identify areas for cost optimization and revenue growth. Drawing on the findings from our analysis, alongside international best practices and current market trends, we developed a comprehensive business plan and operational strategy designed to significantly enhance the venue’s commercial potential, facilitating sustainable growth for the club and its stakeholders.
Our responsibilities included:
- Analysis of revenue streams and cost inefficiencies.
- Assessment of stadium’s potential for non-sports events.
- Drafting of stadium benchmark case studies.
- Provision of stadium industry best practices.
- Preparing regional and international benchmarks.
- Carrying out market analysis and identifying trends for matchday and non-matchday offerings.
- Analyzing and recommending optimal operating model and corresponding FTEs.
- Providing financial projections (revenues, OPEX, CAPEX).
