FIFA has released its updated 2022 Stadium Guidelines, that sets out the best practices and recommended standards in venue design and innovation for football stadium development.
In 2022, The Stadium Consultancy assisted FIFA in drafting the guidelines, providing our expert input in various key stadium design areas gained by carrying out over 125 stadium projects worldwide. Topics TSC provided its expertise on include the stadium project plan and business plan, stadium feasibility, stadium operations & maintenance, multi-usage of stadiums, and stadium operating models.
FIFA’s Stadium Guidelines emphasise that each stadium project requires a specific approach and that one-size-fits-all does not work, in line with The Stadium Consultancy’s tailored approach to each stadium development project. Combining this approach with our extensive expertise in stadium planning, design, management, and operations, allows us to develop stadiums that are adequately embedded in their local ecosystem, resulting in successful and sustainable venues once operational.
Marking the importance of sustainability, FIFA has added a new section on renovating football arenas, next to adding a chapter on developing football training grounds. Additionally, the guidelines have been published in both Spanish and French.
