The Stadium Consultancy Investigates Turf Transition

on 05/09/2018

The Stadium Consultancy has been contracted by the Eredivisie CV (Dutch Premier Division) to investigate the economical impact of the transition to natural or hybrid turf pitches for all Eredivisie clubs.

Heracles Almelo was the first professional team in the Netherlands to play on artificial turf. Since then, several clubs have followed. This season (‘18/’19), 6 out of 18 teams in the Eredivisie play on artificial turf. As part of a wider transition programme to further professionalise the Eredivisie, it is the intention that a ‘level playing field’ will be created and all teams will play on natural or hybrid turf.

Therefore, the Eredivisie CV wants to investigate the economical impact for each of these clubs to replace their artificial pitch for a natural or hybrid turf pitch. This includes all direct costs for replacing the pitch, as well as indirect costs such as increased maintenance, the need for additional training facilities and the loss of income.
