Kardinge is the largest multifunctional indoor sports center of the northern region in the Netherlands and located in the city of Groningen. In 2023 the indoor recreational swimming center and the 400m ice speed skating track and ice hockey arena will come to the end of its technical and economic lifetime. For its 30th anniversary the city intends to redevelop the sports centre for the swimming and ice-skating facilities.
Sport050, the operational unit for sports facilities of the municipality of Groningen, has appointed The Stadium Consultancy as project manager to determine the strategy for the future of their flagship.
The Stadium Consultancy is as project manager responsible for:
- Overall project management and reporting to the Client, city council and its stakeholders;
- Prepare the initial feasibility study, including various development options for this sports center and its surrounding areas;
- Prepare the feasibility study in close collaboration with the services and departments of the municipality and the main users of the sports center and to determine the preferred development scenario for the sports center and a masterplan for its surrounding areas.
