REDEVELOPMENT OF SAN NICOLA STADIUM

As part of a programme of the Italian Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie B – B Futura- to support their member clubs in the upgrading of their stadium infrastructure, The Stadium Consultancy was contracted to develop the plans for the redevelopment of the San Nicola stadium.

The objective of the project is to redevelop this 58,000 seat capacity stadium into a stadium of minimum 35,000 capacity and improving its ambience and fan experience by deleting the athletics track and moving all stands closer to the pitch, whilst maintaining the design intent of the original design by Renzo Piano.

In addition it is proposed to add approx. 42,000 sqm. of commercial area to the stadium programme.

The Stadium Consultancy is responsible for preparing:

• the overall project plan;
• the financial feasibility study;
• the programme of requirements (employers’ requirements);
• the concept design for the redevelopment;
• the site masterplan.
