The Stadium Consultancy was member of a consortium, headed by French contractor GFC (member of the Bouygues Group), which was awarded the contract for the design, build, finance and operate of the redevelopment of the Stade Vélodrome. The Vélodrome was one of the key venues for the UEFA EURO 2016 tournament and hosted 4 group stage matches, a quarter-final and a semi-final match.
The Stadium Consultancy acted as adviser to GFC Construction, with regard to operational requirements, UEFA EURO 2016 compliance and financial exploitation model of the stadium. As part of the operational requirements of the stadium we analysed the safety & security concept (access, egress and evacuation concept), welfare and disabled facilities, hospitality & catering facilities, maintenance, storage and waste concept and the multi-use concept.
The Stadium Consultancy was in charge of reviewing the design prepared by SCAU Architects and recommend improvements to optimise construction costs, life cycle management costs and the operation of the stadium and to ensure that the design matches the EURO 2016 requirements.
