The architectural team of MoederscheimMoonen, FaulknerBrowns Architects and CULD has been chosen by the Municipality of Helmond and Ons Middelbaar Onderwijs (OMO) for the development of a multifunctional sports facility and outdoor activity area for the Helmond Sports Campus ‘De Braak’.
A number of functions comes together in the multifunctional sports facility: the stadium as home base for Dutch first division team Helmond Sport, a high school for OMO, an indoor sports hall according to Olympic standards, the accommodation for the amateur football clubs and health care facilities. An important part of the assignment is the landscape design of the campus. In addition to the planned sports fields, there is the need for public space for individual sports and relaxation, parking and a school yard.
The Stadium Consultancy prepared the feasibility study for the redevelopment of sports park De Braak. TSC defined the masterplan for the entire complex resulting from an interactive process with all stakeholders. The aim for this redevelopment is to increase sports participation and to promote healthy ageing in a sustainable environment.
After the Municipality of Helmond agreed on the terms for this redevelopment, TSC prepared the Employer’s Requirements in preparation of the tendering and design process. The Stadium Consultancy will join the Design Team during the preparation of the Preliminary Design. The whole redevelopment is due to complete in 2024.
