The King Abdullah Sports City (KASC) Stadium is approaching its 20th anniversary and is being considered as a host venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. In preparation, the venue will need to undergo upgrades to meet modern international standards and to facilitate long-term operational sustainability.
The Stadium Consultancy was appointed by Portas Consulting as specialist stadium consultant. We benchmarked the matchday experience, digital experience and (business) operations of similar sized reference venues. Drawing on the findings of the benchmarking study, the venue’s operating model was developed. The envisioned operations of the venue have been captured in a comprehensive financial model, based on benchmark assumptions for various revenue streams, industry standards for revenue sharing and income ratios, and benchmark figures for various stadium OPEX items.
